An intern at Adora needs a good understanding of family systems, child and adult attachment styles, and issues related to adoption and trauma. They will be pushed and challenged. It is important that they not be easily intimidated by defiance, but rather be ready to draw close to a learner who is pushing everyone away. Interns are also faced with manipulation and triangulation. An intern needs the strength to see through such behaviors and respond with our team of adults. Active pursuit of a college degree is required.

Intern assignments may include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and supervise activities with students
  • Live in community with learners
  • Provide nurture and structure within the Adora framework
  • Preparing meals
  • Help students settle down and get ready for bed
  • Actively participate in extra curricular activities
  • Be wholeheartedly with kids as they learn and grow
  • Help prepare buildings and campus for learner use

We are willing to work with colleges and universities to fulfill internship requirements for coursework, including but not limited to:

  • Social Work
  • Education
  • Criminal Justice
  • Psychology
  • Communication
  • Childhood Development
  • Counseling
